Nungwi is generally located on the northern tip of Zanzibar Island, one hour and fifteen minutes’ journey from Stone Town. The oceans of Nungwi are incredibly clear, making it a great location for swimming, snorkelling, diving, and sunbathing.

You will drive into the Mangapwani cave on this journey, which is located 30 minutes by car from Zanzibar town. This cave served as a hidden location where slaves were kept illegitimately after the Slave Market was officially closed in June 1873 and transferred by dhow until 1911. The next step is to travel an hour to Nungwi from the cave.
