STONE TOWN TOUR AND PRISON ISLAND

Historical Stone Town Tour

It is an excellent introduction to Zanzibar and gives you a sense of the island’s rich cultural history. One receives a comprehensive view, history, and tour of Stone Town. Magnificent architecture, small lanes, and ancient sand and stone-built house with Arab/Indian-carved wooden doors that date back more than 200 years to the present.

This tour starts at the central city market, which was established in 1904 and sells fresh fish caught on the island as well as tropical fruits, vegetables, spices, and other goods. The Anglican Church of Christ, which was constructed there in 1873 on the site of a slave auction, will be our next stop. Bishop Steers designed and built it.
